Giving from your IRA… Why now?
The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 extends a provision that allows tax-free charitable IRA roll-overs. If you are at least 70 1/2 , you can make a gift directly from your Individual Retirement Account to Yale—tax free. This special opportunity continues to be available for qualified charitable distributions of up to $100,000 per donor through December 31, 2009. Amounts transferred apply toward the minimum required distributions for the year.
